Ok, I like to blog because it's like my diary. I know others can read it, and I'm ok with that. But, it makes me feel so much better to get it down in writing. I will tell you I am not an English major and I do not have a perfect beginning, middle, and end to my stories. But, enjoy! Oh, and if you are going to delete me as your friend on Facebook after reading this because my opinions are not like yours, don't bother reading further. I don't need to be friends with such closed-minded individuals. This is my blog, my place to write my opinions. You are only reading it because you chose to click here and read this. I didn't post this on FB because I don't want to be judged any more.
If you know me, you know I can be pretty opinionated. I'm not usually one to speak out about it, but get me fired up on a subject and I'm there! Today was the day for this. Well, it's been building, but today was the day. I support the US troops 100%! There are men and women dying every day so that we can be free. So that we can have the constitutional rights! One of those rights is freedom of speech. Today, I believe my own "freedom of speech" was not welcome! How dare someone not like what I have to say! LOL! Actually, the thing is, you are entitled to your opinion, and I don't have to agree with it, but I'm entitled to argue it with my own opinion. But when your opinion just seems down right ignorant and stupid to me, it's hard for me to deal.
We are having a Gay Pride Parade in Augusta! YES, that's right! And, NO I don't have the slightest problem with it. No, I'm not gay, but does that matter? Am I supposed to disagree with this parade because I'm not gay? Yes, I'm a Christian, but does that matter? Am I supposed to disagree with this parade because I'm a Christian? What is that all about??? Why is that our business to argue it? It's their freedom of speech and they have every right to it! Why should anyone tell them it's wrong and they shouldn't do it? How dare some people actually say it's "disgusting". How dare some people say it's a "sin". How dare some people say they should ask for forgiveness! They need to ask God to forgive them because they love someone of the same sex? Give me a break!!
Today I got involved in a ridiculous argument on Facebook. I was appalled to find that there are people out there who call themselves Christians, yet judge others. Then they say they don't judge, God is the judge. But, they had the nerve to "preach" that the homosexuals were sinners! You're telling me that God is going to send my friends to Hell, no matter how good of people they are in this world, because they are gay?? If they want to go to Heaven, they have to ask God to forgive them for loving the person they do? Forgive them for making a choice to love someone, just because they are of the same sex? Is this the same way a man asks God to forgive him for committing adultery? Is this the same way a woman asks God to forgive her for murdering her neighbor? That just can't be!
No matter how you see it, my point is simply to make you understand that we all have reasons for what we believe. I could choose to push the homosexual friends of mine out of my life because of their lifestyle, but that would make me a sinner for not loving my neighbor.
When I was 15, I got pregnant with my oldest son, Tyler. My parents could have kicked me out of the house, they could have disowned me. But they didn't. They loved me and they supported me and they did whatever it took to raise me and my son. At that point I realized that there is absolutely nothing my children, or any loved one, could do that would make me disown them and no longer love them. If one of my children were to come to me one day and tell me they were homosexual, I would take them in my arms and tell them how much I love them. I would welcome any friend of theirs in my home with just the same loving arms. It nauseates me to think that some of these people that were preaching on Facebook today would honestly look at their own flesh and blood and tell them that they were no longer loved and they were going to Hell for loving someone of the same sex....or would they?? See, that's my other point! It's real easy to say you are against something until it's part of your own life. What if it's your sister or brother? What if it's your son or daughter? What if it's your best friend? I hope their loved ones never have to open up and be honest about anything that could be deemed a "sin" in their eyes.
Love one another, regardless of their sex, age, religion, race, sexual orientation. And, go to the Gay Pride Parade and wave at all of the brave men and women marching to show that they are just like the rest of us, they live, they laugh, they cry, they love, just like the rest of us do.
To those of my friends who are a big part of this blog and why I feel this way...I love you! I'm proud to call you my friends!
Ok, I'm done!
